One of the more creative dunks of the evening during the Sprite NBA?Slam Dunk Contest came from returning champion Jeremy Evans of the Utah Jazz.
Evans had a rather uneventful first round, but he was still good enough to get to the championship round against Terrence Ross of the Toronto Raptors.
The Jazz forward knew he had to top himself from the first round and did his best to do so.
Evans set up what appeared to be a painting on an easel that was covered with a black cloth. Evans would then proceed to jump over the painting, and upon clearing it he finished with a strong windmill jam.
After the dunk was completed, the long-awaited moment came when Evans unveiled a portrait of himself?doing the exact same dunk he had just completed moments before.
The 25-year-old even put his John Hancock on the painting, signing it with a marker.
Despite how impressive and creative this dunk was, Evans was overshadowed by Ross, who used a small ball boy in his championship-winning jam. Ross jumped over the youngster and finished with an under-the-legs slam that had the crowd in a frenzy.
Evans was so close to repeating as the champion of the Slam Dunk Contest, but Ross was slightly better. Still, if not for an exceptional dunk from the Raptors guard, Evans' dunk would have been more than enough to win.
While Ross' dunk proved to be the winner, there's no question that Evans' jam scored some major style points and will be remembered as one of the more interesting approaches to a dunk in this year's competition.
