It didn't take long for UFC middleweight Derek Brunson to keep his winning ways going in the Octagon. For Brian Houston, however, that meant a terribly short UFC debut.
In just 48 seconds into the bout which opened the show for UFC Fight Night 31 (or UFC Fight for the Troops 3), Brunson cracked Houston with a left head kick that badly hurt the UFC newcomer in Houston. Houston attempted to steady his legs, but Brunson smelled blood and pounced. He immediately took the back of Houston and sunk in a rear naked choke grip.
Houston did what he could to hand fight and hang on, but after a steady battle where Brunson never left off the gas, the debuting UFC middleweight in Houston was forced to tap.
Brunson moves to 11-2 in mixed martial arts while Houston not only drops his UFC debut, but loses his undefeated record. He is now 4-1.
