Learn a language for free using Mango via Central Arkansas Library System.
All you need is a Central Arkansas Library System library card to access Mango, an online system for learning a huge range of languages from Arabic to Vietnamese. And it?s all free.
Here?s what you need to do:
Get a CALS library card, available on line for residents of Pulaski and Perry counties by clicking here. Your card will be mailed to you within a week or so. Or use the one you have.?
Click on the library website?s Research and Reference tab, then Databases by Subject, then on Mango. Create a profile with your library card number, e-mail address and password, choose a language, and start learning.?
The variety of languages available is staggering ? among them Cantonese or Mandarin Chinese, Croatian, Danish, Haitian Creole, biblical Hebrew, Irish, Pashto, Slovak, Tagalog, and urdu, along with the languages you?d expect such as French (and French Canadian), German, Greek, Italian, Latin, Spanish ? and, just for fun, Pirate.
Mango offers a link to the Google translation engine so you can translate a conversation from one language to another (sometimes with hilarious results). ?
